About the job

The role will assist the Head of Business Development and the team in driving the comprehensively review of the network scheduling process, including techniques, models and software solutions and project manage the introduction of the new scheduling system to improve performance and effectiveness within the established transport network and scheduling model. The post holder will be expected to make recommendations based on operational reports and implement projects aimed at helping the business achieve its objectives relating to the optimisation of resources across the network, developing new solutions using quantitative techniques to optimally plan schedules and review software schedule solutions within the business. This role will use a variety of analytical methods to turn data into insight and drive more value to the business. The ideal candidate will be a highly numerate person with a good attention to detail and have excellent communication skills.

Requirements

 To review and understand the current scheduling processes
 To acquire detailed knowledge and have ownership of the scheduling systems
 To project manage the introduction of the new scheduling system
 To undertake as necessary appropriate tasks to assist the company in ensuring full compliance with the DVSA requirements
 To assist with the timely production of BSOG or other critical data and in the successful completion of audits of such data
 To use software for the creation of schedules and duties including duty summary and forms
 To implement vehicle workings and duties
 To upkeep and distribution of vehicle output sheets
 To use systems for the creation and implementation of efficient rotas
 To transfer and maintain duty and rota information within Grampian system
 To maintain duty late running database and take appropriate action.
 To investigate and rectify schedule problems in conjunction with management
 To upload schedules and mileage and run appropriate audits
 To produce updates on mileage and hours for route costing and standard miles calculation.
 To provide analytical support to the business within network scheduling
 To provide results from analysis in a way which aids commercial insight
 To make recommendations, including but not limited to processes, organisational structure, locations and technology with a view to improving performance
 To assist in development of new process capabilities.

Benefits & how to apply

 Preferably a Master's Degree Qualified in a quantitative or business-management focussed subject (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, etc.) with some experience in a similar role in the commercial industry
 Strong analytical and numerical skills are essential
 Efficient in the use of statistical techniques, enabling easy interpretation and analysis of large amounts of data
 Ability to analyse data, draw objective conclusions and communicate recommendations
 Excellent time management with the ability to meet commitments and deliver to schedules
 Strong interpersonal skills to enable the individual to communicate confidently and effectively with stake holders at all levels around the company
 A team player with a ‘can do' attitude, who is flexible and willing to help others.
